Mocktail Trend Using Shrubs

Mocktail Trend Using Shrubs

Cocktail trends are constantly changing, and among the newest of these is cocktails without alcohol. Yes, we said it, alcohol-free drinks! We know this may sound a little crazy but bear with us.

There are many reasons why this new mocktail trend is becoming so popular. Consumers today look for bars that have low or no-ABV drinks that are just as complex and sophisticated as their alcoholic counterparts.

Bartenders across the country are finding new and creative ways to make beverages that still represent a night out on the town, but one that’s healthy and won’t give you that dreaded morning-after hangover. And it’s not just about cutting out the alcohol altogether or simply replacing the alcohol with soda or sugar-filled juices.

It’s about finding dynamic ingredients that come together to make a delicious, complex cocktail, while keeping it alcohol-free. Many bartenders are mixing various berries, herbs, or spices to create drinks that mimic cocktails in both taste and boldness, like using fresh ginger and lime to create a mock-Moscow mule, or cranberries and fresh-squeezed oranges for a cosmopolitan.

Not sure how to do this? Let us give you one word to help—shrubs. Shrubs are an incredible way to keep your drinks exciting, unique, and flavorful without needing a ton of ingredients or any alcohol. With Anna’s Kitchen 100% organic shrubs, you can be confident that you’re serving your customers a bold and healthy drink with fresh and natural ingredients.

And our shrubs make concocting mocktails super easy! Because they’re made with a combination of fresh fruits, herbs, and spices, you don’t need many ingredients to create an impactful and delicious drink.

Here are a few of our favorite mocktail recipes to get you started:

Shrub Mock Mule

Mix together 4 oz of our Apple Cider Ginger Shrub, 4 oz of ginger beer and a squeeze of fresh lime. Pour over ice (in a copper mug, of course!) and serve.

Mock Shrubtini

Combine 4 oz of our Cranberry Mint Shrub and 4 oz of seltzer water and serve over ice.

Maiden Shrub

Pour 1 oz of Strawberry Lemon Thyme Shrub in the bottle of a champagne flute. Fill the glass with 5 oz of chilled sparkling white grape juice.

Banana Mockquiri

Add 2 oz of Banana Turmeric Shrub, 2 oz of pineapple juice, 2 oz of coconut milk, and blend with 1 cup of crushed ice. Pour in a glass and top with a tiny umbrella to finish it off.

Of course, this is only the beginning. The number of possibilities to create delicious mocktails with shrubs are endless. Don’t be afraid to experiment with out-of-the-box ingredients to play off those traditional cocktail flavors. Looking to test recipes at home first before bringing your creations to the bar?
